So the demo of Avatar (the game) was released today, and because a PC version was developed for 3D big question is, “How well will the current 3D viewing systems work, such as NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Kit ? “ Instead of reviewing the game as 2-D we are going to wait and compile and conduct reviews of the game in various 3D gaming environments and will get those reviews up as soon as possible. Here is a little bit from an interview with one of the story designers of the game, Kevin Shortt.

If you look at all the developers, and as we’re creating the game, we’re all sitting in front of 2-D screens. We all aren’t wandering around with our 3-D glasses and doing everything on 3-D. We were primarily making it on a 2-D environment. We always knew that the main consumer’s going to be checking it out on 2-D. It’s important to try 3-D because it’s about pushing the boundaries and being innovative. We strongly believe that 3-D is the way that things are going to go, so we wanted to prove that this can work, and this is going to be what’s coming. That’s why we went ahead with it, but we had to make sure that this game has got to stand up and kick ass for everybody — me included — who’s going to go home to his 2-D TV. I don’t have a 3-D TV; I’m going to be playing it in 2-D, and I guarantee that people will be very impressed with the 2-D version as well.

MarketSaw has a great review up over Resident Evil 5. “The first gaming title to be fully certified for the ’3D Vision Ready’ logo”. Jim writes.. “Blood actually appears to fly off the screen at you. And yes, these gimmicks are tailor made for 3D gaming – kind of like the opposite of movies where you simply want to be immersed. Gaming with 3D Vision makes you feel like you are intimately involved!”

Other important notes of the review include, pointing out that all of the cinematics and menus are in Stereo3D. I personally can’t wait for motion controlled 3D menu interfaces in games. Both the Nvidia hardware and Resident Evil 5 scored very well in their review. Head over to MarketSaw now to find out how they scored them.
